St. Michael's Mount is an odd mix of house, religious retreat, and fortified castle. A pilgrimage centre in the Middle Ages, converted to a fortress, then a house after the Civil War by the St. Aubin family. Reached by boat (in summer) or across the sand ( covered at high tide - causeway open for 2-5 hours daily )
Its all there....turn up the contrast - nice.
