These tiles mimic the work of famed local designer William Morris. Also a craftsman, writer and socialist he was born in Walthamstow on 24th March 1834. His Gallery, situated in Water House, Morris's family home from 1848 to 1856, is the only public museum devoted to this country's best known and most versatile designer.
