Maldon is a beautiful, unspoilt town on Essex’s Blackwater Estuary that is known the world over for its high quality salt. It is an ancient settlement, and part of its history is recalled in one of the English language’s oldest poems, the Battle of Maldon. Braintree is another very old town, and here you will find Cressing Temple, which was built by the Knights Templar warrior monks in the 12th century.
