Kingston-upon-Hull & Beverley Travel Guide

Hull has been an important port since the 12th century, and has the country’s third largest docks. The town’s most famous landmark is the Humber Bridge, and it is amazing that the north and south banks of the vast Humber Estuary were not linked until the 1980s, given that the first proposal for a bridge was mooted over 100 years before. Other attractions include the Deep ‘submarium’ and the William Wilberforce’s birthplace museum, while in Beverley there are two splendid Gothic churches and the Ferens Art Gallery for you to enjoy.

The Burns Supper was started a few years after his death by a group of his friends; they held the supper to honour and remember Burns. The tradition caught on and the ritual of Burns Supper is now held all around the world.

His life and work will be celebrated throughout the year at many Burns-related events.
