Manchester and Liverpool have certainly risen phoenix-like from post industrial depression to become two of the most happening cities in Britain with vibrant nightlife, music, shops and culture to match their proud heritage and fierce rivalry. Between these two it is mainly sprawling industrial land. The less visited stretch of coastline is home to endangered wildlife under protection of the National Trust and Southport is a more refined resort than most.
