Tunbridge Wells came to the forefront of English society in the 18th century when the upper classes couldn’t get enough of spa towns, and the dandiest of dandies, Beau Nash, would come here for the winter after spending the summer season in Bath. Chalybeate Spring is found in the Pantiles, an elegant Regency arcade and a must-see for any visitor to the town. Tonbridge is a much older settlement that is dominated by a 13th century castle. The town lies on an attractive stretch of the River Medway, making it a firm favourite with leisure cruisers.
