Welshpool lies in the Severn Valley, near the English border, and features a lovely collection of Tudor, Georgian & Victorian buildings. The town is also home to the Powysland Museum, and a mile out of the town centre you will find Powys Castle. If you like nostalgic train journeys, why not take a steam train to Llanfair, some eight miles away – it is a lovely way to see the local scenery.
