Snowdonia offers some of the most spectacular scenery in Britain. With Mt Snowdon at its centre the National Park offers walks through valleys, waterfalls, moorland, past lakes, along rivers and the coast with a wealth of other activities to do. It is littered with sites going back to the Stone Age. The Cader Idris range in the south can be quieter than the main routes. Historic Caernarfon, Conwy and Harlech have impressive castles and, with the college town of Bangor, all make good bases in this passionately Welsh region.
