Ely is a small, quiet city just outside of Cambridge; it is full of beautiful historical buildings, many of which date back to medieval times. You can't visit Ely without going to the fantastic Cathedral, which is in the centre of the city and displays breath-taking architecture. The city has a waterside area where you can take a boat trip, go for a riverside walk, or visit the gorgeous little cafes on the front.
Whilst visiting Ely it's worth going to the converted fire station in the walled garden, it is within a building complex that includes an art gallery, and The Tourist Information Centre which is actually the house.
The city has a Farmers market that is held every 2nd and 4th Saturday in each month between 8.30am to 2pm. Ely is the perfect base to explore the local area and East Anglia.
