Trains to Cambridge from London depart from either Kings Cross or Liverpool Street stations. Regular services run through the London suburbs onwards to King's Lynn. Trains from the north stop at Peterborough then usually continue on to Cambridge. The Norwich to Cambridge Service stops at Wymondham, Attleborough, Thetford and Ely.

WAGN Railways are the principle train operator, providing rail services to London and Peterbrough for journeys north and west.

Anglia Railways provide rail services between Cambridge and Norwich & Ipswich to the east.
