Maldon is one of Essex’s most unspoilt towns. It lies on the wide Blackwater Estuary and is a prominent yachting centre with many clubs around the town, though it is probably better known for its salt – which is sold worldwide and recommended by culinary types as the very best in the world.
There are a few museums in and around the Malden area: The Maeldune Heritage Centre, with exhibitions of paintings and local history and the Maldon District Museum, a small building with collections relating to local life. In nearby Langford is the Museum of Power, where you will find exhibits displaying all forms of power from steam to electric.
