Southend Airport is a small regional airport, approximately two miles to the north of the town. The airport is primarily used for cargo and parcel services, with few passenger flights currently in operation. A regular flight operates every Saturday, between May & September, to Jersey.
Discussions are in progress with the government and local church, which would be required to be relocated, about extending the runway and the possible re-introduction of some passenger services. The airport was recently used following a temporary closure of London City Airport.
