Hunstanton Travel Guide

This locality is great for lovers of historic houses: the most famous part-time resident is the Queen, as the Sandringham Estate has belonged to the royal family since the mid-19th century. During the summer months, parts of the house & gardens are open to the public, but essentially it is a private residence, rather than a state owned one. Castle Rising dates from the 12th century, and is now run by English Heritage, while Houghton Hall is a Palladian masterpiece that was built for the country’s first Prime Minister, Sir Robert Walpole.
