Framlingham is renound for its superb castle. This is the castle where Mary Tudor waited to hear the news of whether she or Lady Jane Grey had been declared Queen. Inside the castle is an attractive 17th Century poorhouse and beautifully carved medieval stone heads, which are worth checking out.

The Lanman Museum can be found inside the castle. The majority of the artefacts, which are displayed in the museum date back from the middle of the 19th Century, Harold Lanman decided to start collecting the artefacts from Framlingham and surrounding areas.

Framlingham Mere is a 33-acre lake that has been leased to Suffolk Wildlife Trust since 1988 as a nature reserve. The lake has changed a little over the centuries other than to gradually silt up. It appears that the mere was alot deeper years ago than it is today.
