The coast has long been plagued by erosion and because of this the fishing industry has been totally demolished, aside from this the Suffolk coast is one of the most unspoilt, picturesque shorelines in England. There are plenty of delightful walks along the coast, easy walking routes (maps are available from the Tourist Information centre).
The Suffolk coast is also home to East Anglia's most compelling cultural gatherings the Aldeburgh festival. This was founded by Benjamin Britten and his lover Peter Pears to showcase Britten's work and that of contemporary composers. The Aldeburgh festival is held in June each year though the composers Britten, Pears and Crozier have inspired a whole calendar of musical events, which take place in the area throughout the year.
The Suffolk Coast beach boasts a pier, which has been recently refurbished and bonny, pastel beach huts though you will find nothing more gaudy or boisterous than that.
