Cromer’s wide, sandy beach looks tranquil enough, but there is a hazardous sandbank, which can make conditions treacherous. Local lifeguard Henry George Blogg saved 873 lives from the perilous waters, during his 53 years of service. Cromer is also known for its crustaceans, and crab is the local delicacy. Further up the coast is the quieter holiday resort and fishing village of Sheringham, where there are many buildings clad, in the local style, with Norfolk pebbles.
