Four miles up the coast from Cromer is the popular seaside town of Sheringham, the town is separated into two parts. Upper Sheringham sits on a hill overlooking the coast and is the ancient settlement that was recorded in the Doomsday Book, while Lower Sheringham is a fishing village and holiday resort.
Throughout Norfolk pebbles have been used in building work since Norman times and in the town you will some of the best examples of this practise, where the entire exterior masonry of a building is pebble-clad.
If visiting the area, a trip to the 770 acre Sheringham Park is a must. The park is a couple of miles southwest of the town. It was founded by Humphrey Repton in the 1800's boasts a beautiful array of flowers in the summer. There are a serious of lookouts in the park where you can admire the beautiful coastline below. The North Norfolk Railway is a lovely journey. The steam trains follow a 5 mile track from Sheringham to Holt and is a pleasant way to get from A to B.
