North Walsham was a Saxon hamlet and its name derives from the Danish ‘Waels’ family, who once owned the settlement. It became an important centre for weaving throughout the Middle Ages, which generated a huge income for the town, take a look at their amazing 14th Century "wool churches" to see how wealthy they really were.
Check out the Norfolk Motorcycle Museum, where there is a great collection of bikes dating from the 20's to the late 1960's. The collection was gathered by George Harmer over the last 25 years.
The surrounding area is littered with attractions, National Trust and National Heritage sites. North Walsham is a perfect base to visit the Norfolk coastline.
