The City of London, capital of England is a vast, magical city, with much to offer both its citizens and its visitors.

The Romans established Londinium and by the 4th century it was the primary trade centre of Britain. Still run today by a Corporation that was incepted over 800 years ago, the streets are a fascinating mix of ancient and modern.

People usually associate the City with business and finance, but there are plenty of museums and galleries too. The Guildhall has a collection of some 250 artworks on permanent display.

The City’s has some fine examples of modern architecture, which is dramatically juxtaposed against the narrow, medieval street system. The country’s two leading contemporary architects are Norman Foster and Richard Rogers, who were one time partners. They have been responsible for such sites as the Lloyds building and the Swiss Re Tower, or 'Gurkin', as well as the Millennium Bridge.
