Lying to the north of Holborn is Bloomsbury, here you will find the University College, Senate House Library, and a host of other University of London buildings and halls of residence. It is also the home of the encyclopaedic British Museum, with more than two miles of galleries.

The district also gave its name to the radical set of writers and artists known as the Bloomsbury Set, who set up camp here between the wars, as well as the Bloomsbury publishing house, though these days their head quarters are slightly to the south-west in Soho.

The Bloombury Square is one of the oldest squares in London, it has a long history associated with literature what was called the 'Bloombury Group'. The garden also contains a statue of Charles James Fox, an anti-slavery campaigner.
