Due to the weak dollar, we thought we got a smoking deal on this place. However, the adage that you get what you pay for came through. I had heard that this place got remodeled, but it obviously was not. Here were the problems (keep in mind that I am not a picky person, and just a reasonable room and breakfast would have done fine).1. The light in the room was a bare bulb hanging from a 6 foot cord. At first thought, it felt like an interrogation room.2. Wall paint/paper was dirty and peeling off.3. Could hear everything from the street below (only had single pane glass). London doesn't sleep.4. We arranged an "en suite" room, and after we got there our private bathroom was out our door, down a hallway (with no working light) and down a few stairs, which then had to be unlocked with a key. Not an easy or fun thing to do in the middle of the night. They tried to tell us that we got an en suite room, not an in suite room, but they were just lying as far as I can tell. We stayed at 2 other B&Bs on this trip and they were en suite with bathrooms in the room.5. At least I could count on an English breakfast though right? Nope. Just toast and cereal. The other places we stayed in Scotland gave us a nice Scottish breakfast.
For the love of god, stay away from this place. There are plenty of other hotels on the same block as the Grapevine that were the same price or cheaper, and looked much nicer. In any case, just pay the extra $30 for a real room at a hotel.
