Westminster, once the powerhouse at the heart of the largest empire the world has ever seen, has been the centre of political power for over a millenium.
To see parliament at its most phlegmatic however, apply for a ticket to see Question Time (usually with the Prime Minister) either through your MP (UK citizens) or your embassy (foreign nationals).
Westminster is a great place to stay if your wanting to check out the great London landmarks. They are all very close to eachother with Westminster being no more than a quarter of a square mile. You can find the Houses of Parliament, Westminster Abbey, Catholic Westminster Cathedral and Big Ben all within walking distance of each other while Whitehall and famous No 10 Downing Street are also very nearby.
