Whitehall contains one of the most famous addresses in the world, No 10 Downing Street, official residence of the Prime Minister. Whitehall is actually a road rather than an area and runs off Parliament Square, linking the Houses of Parliament with Downing Street.

Whitehall is home to The Cenotaph monument that was designed by Sir Edward Lutyens, and was completed in 1920 to commemorate the Commonwealth victims of World War I. The word cenotaph means empty tomb. It is a reminder of those lost and left on the battlefields of Europe.

Check out the changing of the guards at Buckingham Palace, the ceremony lasts about 45 minutes and takes place just inside the railings, it is accompanied by a band throughout.
