Brixton shouts loudly. With a large West Indian community and also popular with students and creatives it is lively, eclectic, vibrant. It has buzzing street markets and big music venues - the Academy and Fridge particularly - along with pubs and bars such as the Bug bar, attract the night time crowd. This is a big transformation from the 70's and 80's when the area was run down and probably best known for riots and drugs.
