Founded in 1908 and originally called Wimbledon Town Golf Club, Wimbledon Common Golf Club’s location has had golf played there since 1865, when the Lord of the Manor of Wimbledon, Earl Spencer, gave officers of the London Scottish Rifle Regiment permission to construct a golf course.
