Hammersmith is a busy suburb in West London. The flyover that was built in the sixties dominates, and being en route to Heathrow Airport is one of the Capital’s busiest roadways. Worth a look, is London’s first suspension bridge, Hammersmith Bridge. Built in the late 19th century, it is particularly attractive when illuminated at night.

Before fleeing the urban horror of Hammersmith check out the London Ark, a building built unsurprisingly in the shape of an Ark. Completed in 1992 this building was constructed to foster the idea of the office as a community, and also boasts to be one of Europe’s most energy efficient buildings.

If you are curious to see where Jamie Oliver was ‘discovered’ head to the River Cafe – it isn’t cheap, and booking is essential, but this is one of London’s most highly regarded restaurants.
