Set amongst the Chiltern Hills you will find Buckinghamshire’s largest town High Wycombe. This old market town has become very popular with London commuters, but still remains it's historic features.
The area is famous for chair making and the wonderful Wycombe History and Chair Museum, which is situated in an 18th century house, it has many displays and a large collection of furniture.
Chalfont St Giles is an archetypal English village, which dates back to Roman times and has many lovely buildings, the most celebrated of these being Milton’s Cottage. It was here that the blind poet (John Milton) took refuge from the plague in 1665, and where he wrote Paradise Lost and began Paradise Regained. Its museum has a great collection of first editions, as well as assorted memorabilia.
