Thatcham is a town in Berkshire, England located 3 miles east of Newbury and 15 miles west of Reading. The village has a large secondary school, Kennet School, which ranks very well in the country.

Thatcham lies on the clear waters of the River Kennet, which offers excellent trout and coarse fishing. The Kennet and Avon Canal was completed in 1811, it flows through an area which has been designated as a nature conservation park and totals over 700 acres and includes the largest area of inland reeds in the south of England.

Thatcham has some beautiful old buildings. Thatcham House is an example of Victorian 'Gothic' and the town has some older houses of the 17th and 18th centuries. The market place holds two former coaching Inns, the King's Head and the White Hart and in Chapel Street you’ll see several Georgian or earlier houses including a row of timber framed and thatched cottages.
