Chelmsford is 35 minutes from London in the county town of Essex. The town dates back to before Roman times, and has been the bustling regional centre ever since.
The town has a beautiful 15th century cathedral which is host to the Cathedral Festival, featuring a variety of music, talks and fringe events every May.
Hyland House, is set amongst 500 acres of parkland, lakes and gardens, it plays host to a variety of summer concerts, including open-air Shakespeare performances, but its most popular event is the annual V Festival, where the world’s leading rock and pop bands perform every August, before huge crowds.
Chelmsford is one of the region’s best shopping centres, with a pedestrianised High Street and two large malls featuring a huge variety of high street and more up-market shops. There are also regular antiques markets, large cinemas, and a varied choice of nightlife.
