Ferries 

The Essex region is well served by ferries between the UK south coast ports and mainland Europe. The M11, M25 and Dartford Crossing provide easy links to the ports by road.

From Chelmsford the closest ferry ports are:

• Dover and Folkestowe are both 85 miles to the south approximately
• Felixstowe is 50 miles to the east approximately

The three ports offer 100's of ferry sailings daily to France, Belgium and the Netherlands. Choose between traditional Ro-Ro ferries, hovercraft, sea-cats and fast ferries with short crossings or overnight with accommodation.
