Mid Herts Divers Scuba Diving (British Sub Aqua Club BS-AC) welcome both experienced divers from any affiliation as well as anyone interested in learning.
Training is performed by Nationally Qualified Instructors in a safe and structured manner. Theory lessons are conducted in a classroom environment, followed by pool sessions in our indoor swimming pool. Open water lessons are conducted at both inland lakes, and coastal locations. Membership of the branch includes both use of branch-owned scuba kit during training and the indoor swimming pool.
The club meet every Wednesday evening at Monks Walk School, Knightsfield. Mid Herts divers (also known as Mid Herts Sub-Aqua Club) are branch #1784 of the British Sub Aqua Club (BSAC), the world's biggest diving club!
Entry Fees
In addition to the BSAC HQ membership fees of £47.00 per year, their branch membership fees work out at £168 per year, payable on a monthly basis at £14 per month.
BSAC and this club offer a preferential student rate for those members who are in full-time education. BSAC membership is reduced to £19 per year and club membership goes down to £11 per month. This works out at an extremely reasonable £139 per year!
Where there is an abated member, we charge an additional £6 per month (£72 per year), making £20 a month for a couple or parent/young member.
Facilities
They have an indoor heated swimming pool and classrooms available for theory lessons.
Lectures are typically held in small groups so that interaction between the instructor and student is maintained.
In order to make the lectures interesting and engaging, a variety of handouts, powerpoint presentations, and hands-on activities are used.
The classroom lectures are followed up with session in the pool. First the divers prepare their kit, initially under supervision of an instructor.
Dry Practical Lessons, such as compass work, CPR, dive planning and chart reading are held in suitable locations for that particular lesson.
Open Water lessons take place at a choice of inland dive sites, and coastal waters.

2009 marks the 250th anniversary of Scottish poet Robert Burns' birth. Burns was a poet and a lyricist and is widely regarded as the national poet of Scotland.
The Burns Supper was started a few years after his death by a group of his friends; they held the supper to honour and remember Burns. The tradition caught on and the ritual of Burns Supper is now held all around the world.
His life and work will be celebrated throughout the year at many Burns-related events.
