Abingdon is a charming town lying on the River Thames, and its history can be traced back to the foundation of its Abbey in the 7th century. The Abbey buildings are certainly worth a visit, as is the County Hall Museum where you can learn about the town’s long standing royal connections.
For those of you with green fingers the Waterperry Gardens, just North of Wheatley, are a must see. The garden was founded by Beatrix Havergal in 1932, for female students to master every aspect of gardening and horticulture. You will find a wonderful variety of gardens, plants, trees, fruits and flowers from around the world.
