Clapton Manor is a Tudor Grade II listed manor house that sits on top of its hill near Bourton-on-the-Water. Set in the heart of the Cotswolds in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the village of Clapton boasts the smallest church in Gloucestershire dating from the twelfth century with churchyard gates fashioned from old horseshoes.
Clapton Manor is a sixteenth century Cotswold stone house surrounded on three sides by its gardens, next to the twelfth century church of St James. The interior, with its three-foot thick stone walls, old oak beams, mullioned windows, large inglenook fireplaces and antique furniture is both informal and comfortable.
The manor has two guest rooms. The Garden Room has a large double bed ensuite bathroom with bath and shower. The Windrush Room has a super king which can be a double or a twin and has an ensuite bathroom with bath and hand shower.
Further Information
There is a book-filled sitting room with a comfortable sofa and armchairs, tea is served on colder days, a log fire and a television. There are also lots of up to date magazines and a plethora of guidebooks and maps. The dining room is dominated by a massive Tudor fireplace. Weather permitting breakfast can also be served outside on the sunny terrace surrounded by flowers.
Further Information
Breakfast is as organic as it can get. Chickens waddle round the garden eating most of the flowers and then laying delicious eggs. The sausages, bacon and black pudding are from the local prize-winning butcher. All the jams are home made (Karin's marmalade even won first prize at the local village fete) and the bread is made by James.
