Newbury Station lies on the mainline and is a few minutes walk from the town centre. Newbury Racecourse Station lies one stop closer to London and provides access to the racecourse. Note that no taxi rank is available at Newbury Racecourse Station.

  • To Birmingham New Street - 2 hours 40 mins approx
  • To Manchester Piccadilly - 4 hours 10 mins approx

Direct trains between London and Newbury; for other destinations change at Reading.

Regular trains are available from Banbury station, just a few minutes walk from the town centre, to London, Birmingham, Manchester and the rest of the UK. This is a staffed station and tickets & information can be obtained from the booking office open 05:25 to 20:40 Monday to Friday, 06:15 to 20:15 Saturday, 09:30 to 18:30 Sunday.

Celebrate - The National Poet of Scotland

Robert Burns

2009 marks the 250th anniversary of Scottish poet Robert Burns' birth. Burns was a poet and a lyricist and is widely regarded as the national poet of Scotland.

The Burns Supper was started a few years after his death by a group of his friends; they held the supper to honour and remember Burns. The tradition caught on and the ritual of Burns Supper is now held all around the world.

His life and work will be celebrated throughout the year at many Burns-related events.
