Guildford has an abundance of beautiful architecture and picturesque lanes and courts, which lie either side of the High Street. Built on a steep hill, the main street is lined with market stalls selling fruit and vegetables, as well as back-to-back stores displaying all the top names in high street fashion and homewares.

Guildford Castle’s Norman keep sits amongst flower filled gardens at the top of the hill. Here you will also find the museum, which gives full accounts of the town’s history, as well as displaying a collection of mementoes of Lewis Carrol, the author of the much loved tale of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland.

Farnham Castle was Built around 1139, the castle was first inhabited by Henry de Blois who held the title of Bishop of Winchester, and used the castle as a place to stay when he was not in London or Winchester. Although the castle remained occupied until the 1920s, it has now been given over as a conference venue, and the only part open to the public is the keep, worth a visit for the views alone.
