Bulkington is a large village near to the towns of Bedworth and Nuneaton. It has been named a conservation area so there will never be any Industrial buildings or major housing projects allowed here.
Back in the 17th Century, French Hugenots brought weaving to the town and was Bulkington’s main industry for many years. Today the town is mainly a commuter village for the larger nearby towns.
The author George Eliot (Mary-Anne Evans) was born here and knew the village well. ‘Silas Marner, (the book she wrote in 1861) contains the town, she referred to as Raveloe.
