Leamington Spa became Royal Leamington Spa after Queen Victoria visited the town in 1838 and it has been a popular destination ever since.
Leamington lies near the centre of England in the beautiful Warwickshire. At Lillington, stands a tree called the Midland Oak, just to the north-east of the town centre. It is marked by a plaque claiming that the tree marks the very centre of the country.
The town’s mineral waters were first discovered in 1586, though the Royal Pump Room and Baths were not opened until 1814. These days the Pump Room houses the Town's Art Gallery & Museum, Library and Tourist Information Centre and the Royal Spa Centre is a theatre for the arts.
