Wellingborough on the River Nene grew as a market town throughout the Middle Ages. William Cromwell is believed to have stayed with his men at the Hind Hotel on his way to the Battle of Naseby in 1645. After a fire in the mid 18th century the town was largely rebuilt.
All Hallows is typical of local churches in that it has a spire, Northampton used to be known as the county of ‘spires and choirs’. While the doorway is Norman most of the church appears to have been built in the 13th century. The church of St. Mary’s was designed by the great 20th century Sir Ninian Comper.
Wellingborough has many things to keep you busy, the town recently got a laser maze, which is similar to quazar, the kids will love it. It also has a bowling arcade where Friday and Saturday nights really come alive with music and uv lights.
