Ripley lies to the east of Derbyshire, near the Nottinghamshire border. While it is mainly an industrial town it does boast some attractions in the close vicinity.

The Denby Pottery Visitor Centre, where you can learn about the famous brand and its history at the museum, or try your hand at painting a plate, or even take in a cookery demonstration. You may prefer to bag yourself a bargain at the factory shop.

To the North of Ripley is Butterley Station, home to the Midland Railway Centre, which has a collection of steam and diesel locomotives, coaches and wagons, as well as miniature railways.
