Buxton is yet another of Derbyshire’s attractive spa towns. As well as offering pleasant tasting therapeutic waters, the town is well loved by music buffs who flock here to savour the Buxton Opera Festival and the International Gilbert & Sullivan Festival, which are both held here each summer. Glossop is the nearest town to Snake Pass, which winds dramatically over the Pennine Hills, and can be quite treacherous in winter.
