Derby had city status conferred upon it during the Queen’s Silver Jubilee celebrations nearly 30 years ago, and now has a number of museums and galleries. The Derby Museum & Art Gallery has a good collection of artworks, as well as a lot of Royal Crown Derby pottery. It's name suggests, the Industrial Museum, which is housed at The Silk Mill, provides information on all aspects of local industrial heritage. Go to Pickford’s House to see a beautifully preserved turn of the 19th century Grade I listed property.
