Gainsborough is a lovely town, and featured as the fictitious town of St. Oggs in George Elliot’s Mill on the Floss. There are a number of attractive buildings, and Old Hall contains an interesting museum. Scunthorpe is now one of the world’s major steel producing centres, and isn’t overburdened with tourist attractions, though it is home to the Museum of North Lincolnshire.
