The Malvern Hills are best known for their spring water and are what put Great Malvern on the map as a spa town when the Victorians diverted water to it from St. Ann's Well on the Worcestershire Beacon high above the town. The Hills are 18 named peaks between Worcestershire and hertfordshire and make a wonderful walking country.
"The Malverns" themselves are a series of pretty towns and villages throughout the Malvern Hills and comprise Great Malvern, Little Malvern, North Malvern, Malvern West, Malvern Wells and Malvern Link. The last of these, Malvern Link is home to the Morgan Motor Company, as well as being the birthplace of the composer Edward Elgar.
Great Malvern however, is the most interesting of these towns to visit and was originally founded by Benedictine monks; its Priory Church dates from the 11th century despite Henry VIII's desires to close the place down in 1538. The Malvern Museum in the Priory Gatehouse explores the town's history as a spa in Victorian times. If you want to try the famous waters themselves, head to St. Anne's Well.
