Stratford-Upon-Avon is known the world over as the home of the English language's greatest master, William Shakespeare. It receives 3 million visitors a year and it is not a large town so it is easy to accuse it of being 'overcrowded' or 'touristy' but if you can see past the throng of people, it is one of the most attractive and interesting places in Britain.

Nowhere else in the country has such an interest in preserving its Elizabethan & Jacobean identities, meaning that Stratford is so much more than just a shrine to William Shakespeare. Shakespeare does however mean big business to the local economy and not just to the vendors of 'ye olde beefey burgers', who give the place a bad name; the RSC alone employs 2,000 people in the South Warwickshire area.
