Sutton Coldfield was long since absorbed by the conurbation of Birmingham, but is markedly different from the industrial belt that now subsumes it. Among the factories and smoking stacks of the city of 1,000 trades, is the 2,400-acre Sutton Park that is a favourite with nature lovers and sporty types alike. Nearby in Tamworth is a castle that features apartments from just about every century since it was built in Norman times. And for adventurous types there is Drayton Park, with 100+ rides and attractions, including Europe’s only stand-up roller coaster.
