Uttoxeter is an ancient market town that boasts a 13th century ale house and a memorial to Doctor Samuel Johnson, though these modest charms can do nothing to compete with the country’s most popular attraction: Alton Towers. This massive theme park just keeps on growing, and now boasts two hotels within the site. Certainly not for the faint hearted, the park features some of Europe’s scariest rides, and queues are now better managed by a virtual queue system.
