Saltburn is a dignified Victorian resort that grew up around a former smuggling village, when the industrialists of Middlesbrough needed somewhere to escape the dirt & grime and the railways could transport them easily to the coast.

The town perches on top of cliffs and access to the beach is by a water-balanced cliff tramway. The Cleveland Way walk hits the coast at Saltburn and continues south to Filey.

Saltburn has the rare distinction of being a surf beach and is popular with all levels of surfers, The Saltburn Suf club offers lessons for beginners or you can just hire their boards and suits if your experienced.
