Durham Tees Valley Airport is seven miles east of Darlington, a major station on the east coast London to Edinburgh mainline. National Express Coaches also travel to Darlington Bus Station & Middlesbrough Bus Station, which is a similar distance to the west. Taxis are available from the front of the airport terminal building.

By Train: Nearby Darlington train station is on the London to Edinburgh main line, with Intercity & local trains. The airport is close to the original route of Englands first ever passenger train, George Stephenson's Darlington to Stockton line. Few trains now travel this route, at present non stop at Middleton St George, the closest point to the airport.

By Rail: An airport link bus, route number 74, runs every 30mins between Durham Tees Valley International Airport, via Dinsdale & Middleton St George to Darlington train & bus stations. Public transport enthusiasts can also catch buses to Barnard Castle, Middlesbrough (town centre) & Yarm.

By Coach: National Express coaches travel from most of the UK's major towns and cities to either Darlington or Middlesbrough Bus Stations, both of which are around seven miles from the airport.
