The Durham and Teesside area is easy to travel to by ferry from mainland Europe.

  • The Port of Hull, is approximately 130 miles to the south of Durham city, offering daily ferries to Rotterdam and Zeebrugge.

Regular ferry sailings to Holland and Scandinavia depart from the port at Newcastle , approximately 30 miles to the north, up the A1 main dual carriageway.

Middlesbrough is a working port for cargo and merchant ships.
