The North York Moors area is well served by routes into the rest of the UK. The A1 (M) runs north-south, within easy reach of the North Yorkshire coast and moors of East Riding, providing good links to London and Scotland. Nearby, the M62 has good access to the port of Hull in the east and both Manchester and Liverpool to the west.
The A171 main coast road lets you drive through Scarborough to Whitby. The A19 dual carriageway travels north-south along the edge of the North Yorkshire Moors. Take the A170 at Thirsk for Pickering, Helmsley and the White Horse at Sutton-under-Whitestonecliff. The A19 continues north past the Cleveland Hills onto Osmotherly and Great Ayton.
